Sergei Metreveli, one of the Righteous Among the Nations, and the 6 million Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
Description
The monument is located on a boulevard near the central square of Oni, which contains the main administrative and public buildings of the town.
It is a large green unevenly cut stone with two white marble plaques, also of uneven form. The larger of the plaques is attached to the monument’s anterior face and the smaller on is placed on the top of the monument.

1942 წელს ნაცისტების მიერ კისლოვოდსკის დაკავებისას სერგი მეტრეველმა ორი ებრაელი - ემილ ზიმელი და არკადი რაბინოვიჩი ფეხით ჩაიყვანა რაჭაში და სიკვდილს გადაარჩინა. იერუსალიმის ჰოლოკოსტის ცენტრმა სერგი მეტრეველს მართალის საპატიო წოდება მიანიჭა.

Sergei Metrvel (Sergey Metreveli, 10 November 1906 – 1 October 1991) helped two Jews in Kislovodsk, Russia, to escape during the Nazi occupation in 1942 and sheltered them in his home in the town of Utsera, Racha region. In 2004, he was recognized as a Righteous Among the Nations. In 2015, with the support from the Knesset, the “Israeli House” filmed a movie about Sergei Metreveli and the survivor Emil Zigel.
The monument dedicated to Sergei Metreveli and the victims of the Holocaust was opened on September 2, 2020. The ceremony was organized by the “Israeli House” and the City Hall of Oni. The event was held within The European Days of Jewis Culture and was supported by The European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage (AEPJ).
