Summary and Remarks
History

More than 130 local Jews were deported to Terezín on May 22, 1942.

The memorial was unveiled on May 21, 2017, on the 75th anniversary of the transport. The ceremony was attended by members of the Zikaron association as the organizer of the event, representatives of the City of Jindřichův Hradec as the main sponsor of the project, descendants of Jews from Jindřichův Hradec. Among the guests, there was also a 91-year-old Mr. Ing. František Fantl, who survived the deportation.

In the original Krninski project, the fragments of the Star of David were supposed to serve as benches on which residents of the city or its visitors could sit, rest and meditate in the shade of a linden tree. This idea was not implemented in the final project.

A linden tree is a national tree of the Czech Republic.
