Description:

The monument is a large grave, where the remains of the Đurđevac Jews from the demolished Jewish cemetery were reinterred. A horizontally aligned marble plaque with a Croatian inscription is placed above the grave.

Na ovom mjestu sahran jeni
su posmatni ostaci
jevrejskog groblja
u Djudjevcu.

U spomen palim borcima
i žrtvama fašizma.

Translation: The remnants of the Jewish cemetery in Djudjevac were buried in this place. In memory of fallen fighters and victims of fascism.

History

The cemetery in Đurđevac before WWII served a small Jewish community of about 20 people but was demolished in the early 1950s. The remains of Jews were reinterred in the municipal cemetery, under this monument.
