Description

The monument is located on the killing site near the Kolyvan restaurant on Khmelnytskoho Street. It is a raw stone with a plaque attached to it. The place is surrounded by metal bars with chains.

[???]
Вічна памʼять загиблим

Translation: Here 200 civilian residents, shot ..., are buried. Eternal memory to the perished [people]

History

During the first days of the occupation of Klevan, Nazi Germans with local collaborators gathered about 500 or 700 Jews on the main square and murdered them, they later brought part of them to the synagogue and burned them there. On April 11, 1942, 30 Jews and 18 Poles were killed near the railroad in Klevan. About 600 Jews were killed in a forest near Klevan on May 13, 1942 [Encyclopedia].

The monument was erected in 1990.

On October 25, 1993, the Representative of the President of Ukraine in Rivne region included the monument on The List of Monuments of History and Monumental Art of Local Significance by the order no. 477 [Rivnenska raionna derzhavna administratsiia]
