Obj. ID: 44798  Holocaust memorial monument in the Beth David Memorial Gardens (Levitt Weinstein Jewish Funeral Home and Cemetery) in Hollywood, FL, USA, 1986

© Samuel D. Gruber, Photographer: Gruber, Samuel D., 2022

Description

A “second generation survivor” is buried at the memorial which appears to have been designed by her brother, Percy Peretz Kaye, and erected in 1986.

The memorial has on one side a design that includes flames around a tree with most trunks cut, but some still growing. Arms reach from the flames and bear a concentration camp number. The monument design is titled “The Phoenix Tree.” Presumably, the tattoo number is that of the artist’s parent.
