Description:

A granite plaque with Latvian and Hebrew inscriptions is affixed to the street facade of the former Zeilen Shul, on the left side of the main entrance.

1941.g. 4.jūlijā nacisti
tajā sadedzināja
dzīvus simtiem ebreju.

Translation: The synagogue building was built in 1906. On July 4, 1941, the Nazis burned hundreds of Jews alive there.

בית כנסת זה
"זיילן שול" הוקם
בשנת תרסו. ט' תמוז
תש"א נשרפו בו על
קידוש השם ע"י הנאצים
ימ"ש מאות יהודים. הי"ד

Translation: The synagogue “Zeilen Shul” was established in 1906. On the 9 of Tammuz 1941 hundreds of Jews, may God avenge their blood, were burnt within for sanctification of God’s name by the Nazis, may their names be obliterated.
