Written in both Hebrew and Persian on blue paper, the amulet is an unusual one for a purpose that appears also on two brass amulets in the Gross Family Collection. The amulet is written so that the holder will be favored by and successful the high official among the rulers to whom he must turn and meet. This appears to be a custom only in Iran. In this example the amulet was made for one Mandarian ben Matzsiel who must appear before Nustak ben Aladini. On the back can be seen all the fold marks by which the piece of paper was made small to be carried easily.
