History/Provenance

After WWI, the territory around the present monument was designated for building housing for the Jews that was made with the support of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). In 1923, the street was named Džonto (Joint) Street. During WWII, this street became part of the territory of the Panevėžys ghetto.

The monument was probably erected in 2014 or 2015, commemorating the centenary of the JDC.
