The central part of the picture is occupied by a pyramid of piled human bodies. Heads with dreadful expressions, hands frozen in covulsive movements, and legs are seen in this pile. A corpse of a woman with a baby lies on a back on the top of the pyramid. There is a flame above the bodies, between the houses with skewed roofs standing by the sides of a street.
