The picture represents a stage design of an interior. The upper part of the space is closed with the arched ceiling resembling a gothic vault. Two pillars standing diagonally from the left to the right in the depth of the room support the ceiling and devide the whole space into three parts. In the right part there stands a crimson bed with bed-clothes hanging down from it. Above the bed in the yellow and grey wall there is a small semicircular window. A black table and a stool are standing in the central part. A large stair with banisters on the background is leading to a door to the left of which there situated another semicircular window. The left part represents a separate room. There stand another bed and a table with a white cloth. On the background one can also see a door with a small window above. The study is painted mainly with black and white colours. Only few parts are painted with yellow, green and crimson colours.
