Meir Akselrod, Stage designs for "Boitre the Robber" by Moyshe Kulbak

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 04.1994
The center of the composition is occupied with a semicircle of a rain-bow. A fallow-deer is lying on it. Its gracefull body is turned to the left, though the head with long corns is turned to the right. Both the head and the body are portrayed in profile. Two large flowers with two blue birds sitting on their tops are flanking the fallow-deer. The sun disk is shown over the head of the fallow-deer on the level of the sitting birds. All the details of the composition except the birds are painted with strontium yellow colour. The background is smoothly covered with green colour.
