An indoor wedding feast. A group of men are sitting around a modestly set table, depicted at the front of the picture. The rest of the guests are standing behind at the background, the women to the left, the men to the right. Most of the men are bearded, wearing casket hats and dark coats. Some are wearing dark yarmulkes or shtreimles. The women are modesty dressed. A jester is standing near the right corner of the table, talking. The crying young groom is sitting at the table, crying and holding a white handkerchief to his eyes. A group of five kalzmers is standing behind the jester, playing on two violins, a flute, a bass and an aboe. The table is covered with a white tablecloth striped with red on the sides. A pair of candlesticks, a bottle, a pastry bowl and several glasses are placed on it. A clock is hanging at the center of the dark background wall. A Hanukkah lamp is standing on a shelf to the right, and a closet on the left. Although the subject matter is a happy occasion, the atmosphere of the scene is quite gloomy.
