The vestibule of the Great Synagogue in Bârlad contains eleven painted wooden panels depicting holy places and other sites in the Land of Israel, as well as emblems of some of the tribes of Israel. These panels are affixed to an upper tier wall made to appear as an arch dividing the vestibule space. The five panels on the left side depict (from right to left):

1. The Dead Sea with salt rocks in the foreground and mountains in the background.

Inscription: ים המלח

Translation: The Salt Sea [i.e., the Dead Sea]

2. The tomb of Simeon the Righteous portrayed as a complex, multipart structure with a large entrance arch.

Inscription: ק" שמעון הצדיק

Translation: Tomb of Shimon the Just (Simeon the Righteous)

3. The emblem of the tribe of Zebulun portrayed as a sailing boat.

Inscription: מטה זבולן

Translation: The tribe of Zebulun

4. The new home of the Warsaw Kollel in Jerusalem.

Inscription: בתי כולל ויארשה

Translation: Buildings of the Warsaw Kollel

5. The city of Shechem (Nablus) situated in a valley against the background of two purple mountains. A city wall surrounds closely packed houses, towers, and apparent minarets.
