The bulk of the synagogue has a square plan. The construction of the vault consisted of the octagonal dome placing over a square room with pendentives and on a complicated vault construction.

The composition of the dome decoration consist of decorative floral rosette placed in the center of the dome and eight symbolic paintings, each of which is located on one of the eight segments of the octagon.

Griffins, deer and rabbits are placed among the winding vines on the carved doors of the Torah ark.

The description of the pictures are given in order of the clockwise direction from the picture situated above the Torah ark.

  1. The painting depicts a scene of the Giving of the Torah. Two hands holding the Tables of Covenant. The Torah crown, decorative curtains and baroque cartouche with a medallion adorn the scene.
  2. The Lion and the Unicorn are depict their backs to each other in a heraldic posture rampant. The animals walking between the trees. Four hands hold the ehtrog, lulav, shofar and trumpet above the animals.
  3. Two bears carry a bunch of grapes.
  4. The hand removes the snake from the tree. Two griffins with his tongue hanging in the form of arrows flanking the tree.
  5. A big fish (leviathan) lying on the waters and biting his tail encircled around the city (Jerusalem).
  6. A big bull lies between the trees.
  7. A peacock with an open tail is depicted in the center of the picture. Two lions sit on either side of a peacock.
