The decoration of the western wall was arranged similarly to the eastern wall. The wall was divided into three tiers, each of which was divided into vertical panels with text, symbolical images, and ornamentation.
The upper tier of the semicircular spandrel of the vault was decorated with symbolic images. In the central panel there were two trumpeting heraldic lions flanking a medallion that contained text. Large vases with etroges, lulaves, fruits, and flowers were depicted on the outside of the lions. Two hands with a shofar were depicted above the left vase.
Inscription around the vase on the right side:
[And you shall take you on the first day] the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and ... willows of the brook (Lev. 23: 40).
Jerusalem is depicted in the right corner of the spandrel and inscribed:
(The holy city of Jerusalem)
The signature of the painter is inscribed within the circular medallion in the southern panel of the western wall:
1733"
A second signature of the painter is in the medallion on the last panel of the north wall:
Inscribed inside a round medallion on the lower right corner of the west wall:
"ש'ע'ל'
ז'ל'
[Black on white, remembrance of the destruction (of Jerusalem Temple)]
