Description

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

This volume is a book about laws of ritual slaughter and kashrut.  A popular work, the text had already been printed in 14 separate editions by the middle of the 19th century in 9 different cities. In this manuscript, the order differs from that in one of the most popular printed editions from Amsterdam, 1778. The present example was most probably written by the local ritual slaughterer for his own use. This manuscript was written in the Moravian town of Biszenec,  from where there is another object, bookbinding, in the Gross Family Collection,  #025.010.008.
