Hebrew printing in Aden began in 1891. In fact, Aden was the only place in Yemen where Hebrew books were printed, and only a small number of books (mostly liturgical) were issued from there. The thousands of sifrei kodesh used by Yemenite Jews were handwritten, with important longer books being sent abroad for printing, primarily to Jerusalem.
