Description

This text was prepared by William Gross:

Sulzbach was a major center for the publishing of Machzors during the 18th century.  The printed books from this city were primarily distributed to the many Jewish communities in sourthern Germany.  This book is the second of a two part set, this volume being for the three festivals.  The title page is a copy of that originally used for "Sha’ar ha-Shamayim" published in Amsterdam.  The printers mark is one of a type particularly used in Sulzbach. The signs of the zodiac illustrated in the prayers for the first day of Passover are nicely done woodcuts. There is a commentary in Yiddish below the Hebrew text.
