Description

This text was prepared by Dagmara Budzioch:

The illustration accompanies the sixth chapter of the Book of Esther that starts with the mention of Ahasuerus' sleepless night and possibly it illustrates this section o the text. It shows the king reclining in the bed with a canopy. On the right, before the bed, three men - possibly his servants or courtiers - are standing, however, none of them is reading to the king. The book placed on the table that is visible on the left can be the book of chronicles.
