The following description was prepared by William Gross:
This birth amulet was printed by Joseph Lugassi, one of the largest Jewish printers in Morocco of the 30s and 40s of the twentieth century. The Lugassi family made aliyah to jerusalem where they have a bookstore to this day. The amulet depicts the hamsah, as a realistic hand, a magen David and a fish. It is printed on beige paper. Several of the amuletic formulas are specifically for protection from Lilith. The "shir le-malt" prayer and the names of the patriarchal couples are also included. The text mentions that the amulet is based on the tradition of the ba'al shem tov.
Born in Taroudant, he began his career in Casablanca as a bookseller in 1924. Toward the end of the 1930's he began his career as a printer.
