Description

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

The Mezuzah for the entrance to a house is sometimes viewed as a sort of amulet, but its direct use as an amulet is almost unknown. This example comprises the normal form of a Mezuzah with amuletic words written on the back along with the name of the person for whom it was made. There is a second example of this genre in the Gross Family Collection, 027.012.223, by the same scribal hand.
