Description

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

At the very bottom of this amulet is depicted a very stylized hamsa, on which is inscribed the priestly blessing. It is stated that the amulet is written in the month of Tamuz and that the owner of the amulet, Yehudah, was born in Nisan, the same month as some of the angels. The purpose of the amulet is to guard against fears, evil spirits and the evil eye, as well as to protect his health. The image of the hand is put as a blessing, with the priestly blessing being written in the hollow fingers.

See 027.012.344 for a similar amulet made for the same individual.

Made For:                        Yehudah ben Amam
