Obj. ID: 53565 Tzahir shel Pesach, Tafilalt region, circa 1850
sub-set tree:
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
The Dahir manuscript contains prayers for the seventh day of Passover and many are decorated in a distinctive manner resembling this manuscript. They almost all appear to be from the area of Tifilalet. This Dahir appears to be a relatively early date version of these manuscripts with their distinctive decoration. The orange & green is a common color palate as seen in the Esther scroll gross 081.012.002 and the Ketubah gross 035.012.022. In this example, the decorations are particularly delicate. The designs appear to resemble some Ketubot which are marked "Sijilmassa", the Jewish name for the area of Tafilalet. The designs and decorations used on these Dahir manuscripts indicate that the origin of almost all of them is in this area.
