Description

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

This is a paper scroll telling the story of two miraculous events, later celebrated in special Purim celebrations. Such special, personal Purim stories are known from many places in the world.  When a particular event resulted in the saving of Jewish lives, it would often be celebrated yearly as a special Purim. One of the stories here is that of Purim Sebastian, a story well known in Morocco. This is in commemoration of the victory of the King of Morocco over Sebastian, the King of Portugal in the 16th century. The second story regards the French bombardment of Tangier in the 19th century. These special Purim celebrations were carried out only in Tangier as a local custom.
