Obj. ID: 45799 Ketubah, Yazd, 1862
sub-set tree:
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
The Yazd form of the Ketubah is quite recognizable among Persian marriage contracts. The tree with birds or some other animal on the two sides is the normal decoration. In this example lions have taken the central place of the usual birds, and the birds have moved to the sides. This wedding took place on March 18, 1862 (16 Adar ii, 1862). Since both bride and groom have the same family name it is likely that they were cousins, as was the custom among Mizrachi and Sephardi Jewish communities.
Bride: Miriam bat Rachamim Katz
Groom: Akai ben Yitzhak Katz
