The following description was prepared by William Gross:

This small community in the north of Iran is represented in the Gross Family Collection by several examples.  This piece is one of the largest Ketubot recorded. The document uses cutout letters with gold paper as a ground and is signed by the artist at the bottom, an unusual convention for Iran. The exact date of this wedding is not readable, except for the year.

Bride:                                Miriam bat Moshe

Groom:                             Akai ben Aharon

 

the name of the artist is written in green color in the middle of the lower part of the frame of the ketubbah, reads:

הצעיר יעקב בר איצחק The young Ya'akov ben Yitzhak. (MSt.)
