One of the very few surviving examples of this form of ritual object, this carved wooden Havadallah candle holder is in the shape of a Torah pointer with a carved hand at the end. It is not known if this object was used for reading the Torah as well as for the Havdallah ceremony. This example is fancifully carved in many parts with different decorative motifs. It is carved as well with two layers of inscriptions, the one identifying the date of 1804 and the other being the abbreviation for the blessing on the lighting of the Havdallah candle.
