Description

This text was prepared by William Gross:

Even though this book of blessings was printed in Mantua in the last part of the 18th century, the two illustrations inside of the Matzah and the Maror are directly copied from similar illustrations that appeared in Italian Hebrew prints of the 17th century. It is interesting to see how such traditions are maintained by printers from their predecessors. Additionally a full page is given on the reverse of the title-page for the rendering of the printers' mark.
The printer Eliezer Shlomo D'Italia was the son of Refael Yitzchak Chaim D'Italia, who reinstated the Hebrew printing press in Mantua in 1724.
