Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah finials, Turkey
The silver Torah finials consist of a shaft,a body and an apex.
The cylindrical tapering shaft is encircled at the bottom and top by a ring. The hexagonal tower-shaped body is mounted over an upside down dome. Every facet is decorated with a central motif of a bouquet of flowers on a curtain , surmounted by a round trefoil and a flower in each of the upper corners. An undulating column flanks either side of the facets. The top and base of the columns is a square capital with a lily flower on its upper part. The upper and lower parts of each facet is decorated with an encircling band of flowers. The upper edges of each facet terminates with a vegetal pattern. Six rings are attached to the top of the vegetal pattern of the upper edges and carry chains with bells. The upper part of the body is a dome decorated with leaves radiating from the center. The apex in one finial is set on a dome and in the other on a floral circlet.
