Jewish Funerary Art Site of the Jewish cemetery in Mieszkowice, Poland
According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the Jewish cemetery in Mieszkowice was established in the 19th century south-west of the city, at today’s Odrzańska Street.
In the cemetery there is a small, ruined building made of hollow blocks and bricks, of unknown purpose. Inside there are fragments of a Christian tombstone: a concrete cross, a concrete octagonal plinth and a concrete slab. There are no remaining tombstones at the site. The area is densely overgrown, except for the north-western part, where there is a small soccer field (still one goal is standing). This part is less overgrown with vegetation, there are no bushes on it. The cemetery is adjacent to a farm, arable fields and vegetable and flower gardens. It adjoins a dirt road from the south-east. The place is not marked in any form.
From the north-east and north-west it is partly fenced with a metal mesh fence and wooden fence (belonging to adjacent properties), other sides are fenced with remains of a very low (max 70 cm) old cemetery wall, made of bricks and stones.
The cemetery area is behind the private property at 1, Odrzańska Street (the cemetery is adjacent to this property fence). The best entrance to the cemetery is in the north-east corner (the closest cemetery corner to the intersection of Odrzańska and Kościuszki streets), right next to the fence belonging to the property at 1, Odrzańska Street. Access is via a dirt road departing from Odrzańska Street. The cemetery adjoins this dirt road from the south-east. Cadastral parcel no. 320605_4.0006.628/10
