Jewish Funerary Art Site of the Jewish cemetery in Kartuzy, Poland
According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the Jewish cemetery was completely razed to the ground, writes Elżbieta Pintus in her memoirs from the beginning of World War II. The inhabitants of Kartuzy remember that the gravestones were gathered on one of the neighbouring properties, where they were located until the 1970s. Most likely, the burial place of local Jews was completely destroyed by the Communists in January 1970, at around the same period they destroyed the surrounding Protestant cemeteries.
No traces of the old tombstones have survived. Until today, the place of the cemetery has not been developed, but there is a housing estate nearby. The Society of Kartuzy Lovers intends to commemorate the place by putting up a commemorative plaque. There are also plans to create a municipal park on the site of the Jewish cemetery.

An underground heating pipeline runs through a part of the cemetery, as evidenced by information boards placed there.
The cemetery is located to the south-east from the building belonging “Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa Kaszuby'' (translation: “Kashubia Housing Cooperative'') at 30, Sędzickiego Street. Cadastral parcels no. 220502_4.0007.92; 220502_4.0103.83
