Jewish cemetery in Ustrzyki Dolne, Poland

© ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, Photographer: ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, 2020

According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, tombstones in the cemetery are dated 19th and 20th centuries. It is known that the Germans used some tombstones to pave the streets. In 1993 and 1995, during renovation works, several dozen of them were found and transported back to the cemetery. Jews from Krościenko, Ustianowa and other nearby villages were also buried within the necropolis.

There is an old gate standing in situ at the entrance of the cemetery, but the former fence is completely missing. There are 237 gravestones. Some of the tombstones are in good condition, many others are leaning, have fallen or are overgrown with moss, without legible inscriptions. The tombstones are richly ornamented.

Date of the oldest tombstone: 1887
Date of the newest tombstone: 1936
Perimeter length: 395 metres

The cemetery is located to the West of the city stadium, however it is hardly accessible. It can be accessed via the black tourist route, which is signposted near the stadium. It can also be accessed by following the abandoned railway track near the stadium, after around 100 m proceed up the hill.
