Jewish Funerary Art New Jewish cemetery in Novhorod Siverskyi, Ukraine
According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. It cannot be found marked on old maps of the region. The oldest preserved tombstone dates to the early 20th century, from which it can be inferred the cemetery was founded during that era. According to the Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage, the older part of the cemetery was demolished during war time, with the tombstones being used to pave Sverdlova Street.
The cemetery is partially surrounded by a wooden fence, which runs solely along the roadside on the new section of the cemetery. There are about 170 gravestones. The majority of the preserved tombstones are located in the cemetery's northwestern section.
