Jewish Funerary Art Jewish cemetery in Voinyliv, Ukraine
According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. First, it appears on the Second and, later, on Third Austrian survey of the 1860s and 1880s, so it can be assumed that the cemetery emerged in the mid 19th century. The oldest preserved gravestone relates to the late 19th century.
The cemetery is mostly demolished. The site is used for cattle grazing. There are 4 gravestones and 14 fragments without inscriptions on the site. The only dated fragment found by ESJF expedition is of 1892.
To reach the cemetery, turn onto a dirt road between the houses 40 and 42 on Ivana Franka Street. Proceed for 200 metres. The cemetery is located on the left of the road behind a hill, near the Slivka River.
