Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah Ark curtain
The purple parokhet is made of velvet.
The cloth is rectangular and is decorated with embroidery. It has a central floral pattern and is surrounded by a floral frame. Floral motifs at the four corners face the center. A dedicatory inscription appears on the upper and lower part surrounding the central floral motif. The dedicatory inscription is embroidered in filled letters. The inscription in the upper part is embroidered in six lines. On the second line between the words appears two rampant lions supporting a Torah crown. The inscription reads:
קל"ה (קודש לה')## לעלוי % נשמת ## הבחור משה ישועה כהן ז"ל ## בן רפאל חיים ובוליסה הי"ו (ה' יחיהו וישמרהו) ## ליל ש"ק (שבת קודש) ה' בסיון תרע"ז % ליל ש"ק (שבת קודש) כ"ב במרחשון תש"ו ## ת'נצ'ב'ה '(תהי נשמתו צרורה בצרור החיים)
"Dedicated to the Lord (int.)## for the exaltation of % the soul ## of the youth Moses Joshua Cohen of blessed memory (int.) son of Raphael Hayim and Bolisa, may the Lord protect and sustain them eve of the holy Sabbath 5th of Sivan (5)677= 1917, eve of the holy Shabbath 22nd of Marheshvan (5)706=1945 ## may his soul be bound up in the bond of life"
The dedicatory inscription in the lower part is embroidered in one line, and reads: ש' תרמ"א "The year (5)641=1881"
