Jewish Architecture
  Synagogue in Harderwijk, The Netherlands

© Willy Lindwer, Photographer: Lindwer, Willy, 2002

The synagogue, constructed in 1839/40, was designed as a rectangular building with pointed arched windows. It was probably replaced an earlier synagogue, dating back to 1817. During the Second World War, the furnishings of the interior of the synagogue disappeared. After the war, the Jewish community of Harderwijk merged with the community of Apeldoorn in the year 1947. In 1995, memorial plaque was added to the building to commemorate the Jews who died during the war.

The building is currently used as a community center.
