Modern Jewish Art
Dead (from the "Dead people" series)

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 02.1994
Most of the composition is occupied by a big silhouette of human head and shoulders against a yellowish-brown background. It is outlined with white and black contour. Across the face a fantastic blue fish with tooth-jaw and sharp fins shaded by red-orange color is painted. A big human eye with red contour and pupil is depicted along the fish's body. Two black circles with blue contours resembling pupils are painted at the top of Dead's head; a big lilac circle and a word "Mavet" [Dead] are written over shoulders in Hebrew letters with white paint. At the upper part of the composition a blue irregular rectangle with white contour is set. A big word "Miyortvy" [Dead] is written inside it in mirror reflex against a dark-blue background in cursive Cyrillic letters by thin white crayon
