Modern Jewish Art
Grobman, SurrealismSurrealism (from the "Dead people" series)

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 02.1994
Most of the composition is occupied by a big silhouette of human head and shoulders against a grey-black background. It is outlined with yellow contour. The upper part of the head is coated evenly by red and yellow paint. The face is divided into tree parts by wide blue horizontal strip with a human eye in its center and two small light-blue circles on its edges. The lower part of the face is painted in black color with big square Hebrew letters. The same letters over the shoulders are written against a blue background. The face is divided also vertically by a white form reminding of a plant with five roots at its bottom and five petals at the top. At the upper part of the composition an irregular rectangle with yellow contour is set. The big words "Miyortvy"[Dead] and "Surrealism" are written inside it against a blue background in the mirrocl/28 reflex in Cyrillic cursive letters by thin black crayon-lines.
