Sacred and Ritual Objects Hanukkah lamp
The hanging back-walled Hanukah lamp is made of brass and consists of a row of oil containers, a back wall, a Shamash, and a hanger. A row of four rectangular double-spouted oil containers is attached to the back wall at the bottom.
The pointed arch back wall is composed of an openwork scroll pattern decorated with short lines and rosettes set symmetrically. It is surmounted on both sides by two birds facing in. At the bottom of the back wall, there is a horizontal inscription in square linear letters which reads: "כי נר מצוה ותורה אור ודרך חתמ )חיים תוכחות מוסר(")משלי ו',כ"ג(. Prov. 6:23.
The Shamash is a rectangular spouted oil container attached to the top of the back wall, below a ringed hanger surmounted by a lily.
