Who is Commemorated?
About 1,000 Jews of Kupiškis and the environs, Lithuanians and Russians murdered at this site.
Description:
The monument is situated in the Freeman cemetery.
It is a concrete stele built in 1952. A marble plaque with Yiddish and Lithuanian inscriptions and the Star of David is affixed in the center of the stelein the early 1990s.
In front of the stele, the mass grave is marked by a raised concrete platform covered by stone slabs. At four corners of the platform, there are metal plaques with inscriptions in Yiddish, Hebrew, Lithuanian, and English added in 2004. In its center, a large Star of David is placed.

Translation: At this place Nazi executioners and their / helpers, in 1941, murdered about / 1,000 people of Kupiškis, the majority of / them were Jews.
