The following description was prepared by William Gross:
This delicately crafted papercut is one of a pair for the holiday of Succot for which they were hung in the temporary structure erected during the days of the holiday. Since this was the season of the possible first rains, such paper cuts would often be damaged or destroyed by the water in the open roofed temporary buildings; this piece has water damage. This example is an Uzhpezin plaque, containing the blessings which the guests in the Succah structure should recite. The other piece to the pair, exhibited here as well, contains the blessings for Eruv Tavshilin, for use if the beginning of the holiday falls on a Friday before Shabbat. It is very rare to find a pair of papercuts for the same use and by the same hand, especially a pair of this high quality. This papercut can be dated by the inscription on the companion piece by the same hand, also for the Succah.
