Monument to soldiers of the Lithuanian Territorial Defense Force,

Although not commemorating the Holocaust, this monument is an integral part of the Paneriai memorial complex.

Who is Commemorated?

86 soldiers of the Lithuanian Territorial Defense Force killed in Paneriai and Marijampolė between May 17 and 21, 1944.

Description:

The monument consists of a granite cross with a Lithuanian inscription, which is situated inside a triangle made of two granite blocks. The cross is preceded by a sculpture of a Lithuanian military helmet. Two slabs with the names of the victims are located on both sides of the helmet.

Translation: On this spot, / on May 17–21, 1944, / the SS troops of the German army / executed 86 soldiers of the Lithuanian Territorial Defense Force.
