Who is Commemorated?

375 Jewish victims of the Holocaust from Uzliany. 

Description:

The monument commemorating the Jewish victims of the Holocaust from Uzliany is erected on their killing site and a mass grave in the Jewish cemetery. 

It is shaped like a black granite obelisk standing on a two-step base. The monument bears two inscriptions: In Russian and Yiddish. The Yiddish inscription is made according to the Soviet orthography of Yiddish.

At the top of the monument, there is a depiction of the Soviet five-pointed star in the wreath. 

The monument's territory is surrounded by a fence.

на вечные времена
375 евреям
из города Узляны
погибшим от рук
лютых врагов
человечества
фашистско-немецких
злодеев

Translation: The blessed memory / for everlasting time / to 375 Jews / from the town of Uzliany, / who died at the hands of / the fierce enemies / of mankind, / fascist-German / villains. / October 8 / 1941.

Translation: Bright memory for eternal years [of] 375 Jewish victims of Uzliany that were murdered in the hands of bloody enemies of mankind, the fascist German murderers-hangmen, on the second day of the hol ha-moed of Sukkot, the 18 th of Tishrei, the year 1941.
