The book binding is composed of three parts: The front and back covers and the spine. The front cover bears an oval medallion in the center of the two rectangular strips. The medallion has a braided border with four nails in four places. There is an additional oval in the center of the medallion.There are two fish in the oval one above the other facing opposite directions. There is an inscription on the oval which reads: "Joseph son of our Rabbi Rabbi Efraim Fishel Nero?". The oval is surmounted by a crown and has a scroll design around it. The two rectangular strips bear an interwoven scroll design and are framed by a wavy strip. The cover has a narrow border tha bears a foliate motif at top and bottom and an inscription along the edge which reads: "In the year And the Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man (Gen.39;2)=1760". The spine of the cover is divided into five registers each bearing a central motif of a four pointed leaf with three rows of dots. The top and bottom leaf are the largest of the five. On either side of the registers is a foliate scroll. The back cover bears a central motif of a flower surrounded by foliate and floral interwoven scrolls. There are three flowers arranged in two lines on either side of the central motif. A narrow border with a wavy design frames the back cover.
