Sacred and Ritual Objects  Candlestick (Zhytomyr, 1871)

The candlestick is composed of a base, shaft and a socket cup.

The square base has convex angles and a round raised base in its center that bears a smooth strip surmounted by intertwined and alternating flowes and leaves. The top bears upsidedown acanthus leaves that radiate from the center.

The undulating shaft is composed of a base that resembles a vase decorated with upsidedown leaves with two rectangular units inbetween them. The shaft emerges from the vase, it tapers in the center and widens on top. The bottom is smooth and the top various vertical leaves and branches.

The cup socket bears the same design on bottom as the vase of the shaft. The serated edges turn outwards.
