Sacred and Ritual Objects Amulet, Israel/Eretz Israel, circa 1950
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
A finely written amulet most specifically for the purpose of finding favor in the eyes of some authority in addition to the normal protective names and abbreviations that so often appear on scroll amulets. Apparently the owner for whom it was fashioned need to have an important meeting.
The most notable and uncommon graphic element in this scroll is a large round diagram near the top that contains the Shivit phrase in the center with the name of God presented in pseudo angel writing. This is surrounded by three concentric circles containin Kabbalistic names such as the 42 letter name of God as well as other names. There is a Magen David whose outline is in yellow ink. All the script is in very readable square characters.
Made For: Ya'akov ben Simchah
