The house shaped spice container consists of a receptacle, a lid, a shaft and an apex. The square shaped receptacle bears a dedicatory inscription on three sides and a date that apears in a Star of David on the fourth. The inscription and date read: "?? the honorable Rabbi Mordechai son of the exalted the honorable Rabbi Zeligman Gibian may he rest in peace for his son the child Moshe may G-d extend his days and his years [5]617=1857". The receptacle is surmounted by a pyramid shaped lid with ten holes to smell from on each side. A globular ball rests on the tip of the pyramid with a wavy flag as its apex. The receptacle is supported by a cylindrical shaft that has a thick ring in the center and an additional one under the receptacle. The round raised base tapers into the shaft and they are one whole unit.
