Description:
The monument is situated in a field where Aknīste Jews were murdered. It is a local boulder standing on a base made of another boulder. A sunken panel on the boulder's front contains the Star of David and the date of the mass murder, July 18, 1941.

Arrests of Aknīste Jews began in mid–July 1941. For a couple of days, about 150–170 Jews were imprisoned in the hall of the hotel “Austrija.” Part of them were murdered in the hotel yard on 18 July by the self–defence unit of Ilūkste; the other part was taken to the outskirts of the town – the end of Jaunā Street – and shot there.
After WWII, the murdered Jews were reburied in a mass grave behind the municipal cemetery (see here).
The memorial stone was inaugurated on October 27, 2020.
