Who is Commemorated?

Jewish victims of the Holocaust from Mariiampil

Description:

This monument is located on the site of the Jewish Cemetery in Mariiampil, which is now a field. The monument is an upright stele that has a rounded top with shoulders. The Monument has floral ornamentation on its perimeter. Within the ornamentation, there are three inscriptions carved with raised letters. The space between the ornamentation and inscriptions is filled with carved, raised, horizontal stripes of the same height as the letters of the inscriptions. At its bottom, the monument has a small metal plaque with the name of a donor and a year of installation.

Translation: In memory of martyrs of the Jewish community from Mariiampil that were killed with horrible cruelty 1941 -1945 by Nazim, may their names be obliterated .... // May their souls be bound in the bundle of life

В памʼять про єврейську громаду
Маріямполя що була жорстоко
знищена нацистськими вбивцями
у 1941 - 1945 роках

Translation: In memory of the Jewish community of Mariiampil which was ruthlessly exterminated by the Nazi murderers in 1941 - 1945 years
