2965 Jews of the Kopyl ghetto, killed in 1942.

Description

The monument is an upright stele of an irregular shape standing on a granite base that, in turn, stands on a paved podium.

In the upper part of the stele, the menorah is depicted.

The monument bears three non-identical inscriptions: in Belarusian, Russian, and Hebrew. At the bottom of the monument, there is an additional inscription identifying the foundations that erected the monument. 

The inscriptions are framed with long strips on their right and left sides. 

At the foot of the monument, there are three plaques commemorating some of the victims' names. 

The territory of the monument is surrounded by a fence.

In Belarusian: 

Ахвярам нацызму

Тут у 1942 г. былі
зверскі закатаваны
2965 яўрэяў Капыльскага гета.

Translation: To the victims of Nazism / Here in 1942 were / brutally tortured / 2965 Jews of the Kopyl ghetto. 

In English:  

To the everlasting memory of 
the Victims of the Holocaust 

2965 Jews from Kopyl ghetto were
brutally murdered here in 1942.

In Hebrew: 

לזכרון קורבנות הנאצים 

  במקום זה בשנת 1942 נרצחו באכזריות
2965 יהודי גטו קופיל.

Translation: In memory of the Nazi victims / At this site in 1942 were brutally murdered / 2965 Jews of Kopyl ghetto. / May their souls be bound in the bundle of life.
